The Plateau state commissioner for Information and Communication, Honorable Dan Manjang, in a radio interview earlier today on JayFm in Jos the Plateau state capital reacted with disappointment after he felt that he was being ambushed live on air when the station’s presenter, Zoe Machunga turned the program into a debate between him and a guest, Comrade Thomas Tuken who questioned the Governors person across tribal lines.

The interview “State of Plateau” started by talking about Governor Lalong who was once a state legislator representing Shendam and was a former speaker for two terms. However, the presenter introduced the program with a written Review on an article written in ‘Observer Times’ which stated that “You Have Failed us, Governor Simon Lalong and Other Political Appointees”

The commissioner noted that he was very disappointed as he felt ambushed because the interview was later turned into a debate to question the Governor’s ethnicity as he was never pre-informed that such was the nature of the program.

In his words Hon Manjang said “As a matter of fact I am disappointed this morning, if i knew that this is the type of discussion that would be, I wound not have come as this is an ambush” “for me to come and sit and discuss about Gomai is not what has brought me here, i have the right to workout of the studio because this was down to discussing nepotism”

“This is why we don’t come to JayFm, the platform has failed with a set mindset”. the Governor is not the Governor of only Gomai people, he is a governor of plateau state”

However, JayFm, presenter Zoe, pleaded with the commissioner and asked him to go ahead to talk about other issues affecting the state which was the reason why he was invited to the program.

Hon Dan Manjang later went on to elaborate on the issues of the Plateau State University and Lalong legacy projects numbering 22 which was initially budgeted for N50billion but had to be rescoped to a downward budget of N29billion due to the current realities on the ground and the project were on gear to be completed.

He further shared on Governor Lalong’s 3-Point Policy Trust which he stated to be Peace Security and Good Governance, Infrastructural development and sustainable economic rebirth.

The Commissioner later went on to ask Comrade Thomas Tuken on his terms, to score the Governor’s performance and state his reasons. But the comrade could not state such as he was not even articulate enough to ordinarily talk about such reasons. It was however apparent that the radio station, JayFm did not bring a worthy person that could articulate valuable points.

The interview has however been treated with mixed feelings by citizens as a major talking point,

  1. It is sad that the honorable so to say felt that way, JAYFM is trying to get him on pace to what the masses are saying as it regards to their lives and what they feel about the government and for him to shade light on the government agenda as well
